When a dog attacks “without cause”… was there really a cause?

When dogs attack unexpectedly, I wonder if there may have been something else going on that caused the dog to not have the patience or self-control that day. Did someone change the feeding time? Yes, dog is normally fed well, but dinner didn’t come on time today and dog snapped. Or another dog or other family member in the house stole his breakfast.

Or maybe dog normally walks a mile every day, but hasn’t had their walk for two days and has pent up energy and frustration.

People get hangry pretty easily.  And we have a relatively large prefrontal cortex responsible for mood regulation.  It’s much smaller in dogs, right?  It shouldn’t take that much to send them over the edge.
